Bitana (Bee) Saintilma RN, BSN

Board Secretary, APIC DC Chapter

Currently working as a Thoracic Nurse Navigator at George Washington Hospital. She became interested in Infection prevention (IP) while working as a post-surgical nurse in Atlanta Georgia.  Through IP experiences, she qualified to work in the Infectious Disease (ID) department at George Washington hospital as a research nurse. During the pandemic, she was the lead nurse in the Moderna and Pfizer vaccine trials. In addition, she worked on the Regeneron COVID infusions.  Her extensive work was with the HIV Prevention Trials Network where she worked with the ID team to test the safety of first in human monoclonal antibody infusions.

Her belief is that IPs play an instrumental part in pushing any agenda of a medical team forward due to their particular knowledge of how to stop the spread of infection and diseases.
