Jackie Monahan became an APIC member in December, 2020 after months of wading through available information to find reliable and evidence-based infection prevention guidelines for the re-opening of a medical practice after the peak of COVID-19. The Pandemic clearly brought to light and taught us the importance of collaboration and information-sharing among professionals in infection prevention and control. Jackie has been a perioperative and ambulatory center leader and currently is the director of two Endoscopy Centers. Infection prevention and control has always been a high priority in the periop/ASC environment where new and increasing challenges continue to present themselves. Infection prevention is a key focus of DOH and accreditation surveys. In the ASC and periop environment, knowledge and competence in infection prevention and control is a primary area of responsibility for Center Leaders. Jackie obtained the a-IPC certification issued by the CBIC in December, 2023. Jackie lives in Washington, DC and enjoys exploring the city as well as spending time with family, especially grandchildren, when not working.
